Professor Trent Twomey was elected as National President of The Pharmacy Guild of Australia in March 2021.

Trent has been involved with the Guild for over 10 years and was part of the successful negotiating team for the Sixth and Seventh Community Pharmacy Agreements. He is Secretary of the World Pharmacy Council, immediate Past Chairman and Director of Advance Cairns, a Professor at James Cook University, a Council Member of the Queensland Futures Institute, and a trustee for the Committee for Economic Development of Australia.

Trent and his wife are both pharmacists and own a small group of pharmacies in Northern Queensland.

Emma McBride is the Federal Member for the electorate of Dobell, on the Central Coast of NSW and was elected in 2016. After the 2019 election Emma was appointed Shadow Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Shadow Assistant Minister for Carers. Emma was the Deputy Chair of the House of Representatives Select Committee on Mental Health and Suicide Prevention in 2021. Following the 2022 election, Emma McBride was appointed Assistant Minister for Mental Health and Suicide Prevention and Assistant Minister for Rural and Regional Health. Emma worked in health for over 20 years, both in Australia and abroad. She was a Specialist Mental Health Pharmacist and the Chief Pharmacist at Wyong Hospital, and prior to her election to Parliament, was the Deputy Director of Pharmacy for Central Coast Local Health District. Emma’s background in a range of health care settings provides a unique platform to promote better health services for both her local area and the broader community. Emma is a passionate advocate for quality healthcare, close to home. Emma recognises the unique challenges facing rural and regional communities in accessing health care and hopes to help shape public policy that promotes the health and wellbeing of all Australians, regardless of where they live.

Krysti-Lee Patterson is a passionate and experienced pharmacist leader with a deep understanding of the evolving Australian pharmacy landscape developed from over 15 years of experience in the pharmacy industry. As the Founder and Managing Director of Meitheal Services, she leverages her expertise to empower pharmacies to thrive in a changing environment.

Her expertise lies in strategic consultation, advisory support, industry navigation, educational content development, and leadership development. Throughout her career, Krysti-Lee has demonstrated a strong commitment to driving positive change in the pharmacy sector, focusing on areas like revenue growth, service excellence, and patient care.

Dr Fei Sim is the National President and Chair of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (PSA) Board, the first female, and the first from a diverse cultural background to be elected to this position since its Federation in 1977. Fei served as the WA State President of the PSA between 2017-2021, before she was elected to serve on the national Board. She is the Chair of the inaugural PSA Contemporary Community Pharmacy Practice (CCPP) Communities of Specialty Interest, which is a forum to support collaboration, innovation and strategic progression of various practice areas in pharmacy. Fei is a Senior Lecturer and the Coordinator of International Engagement in the Curtin Medical School at Curtin University, Western Australia. Fei holds a Doctoral degree in Pharmacy, is a practising pharmacist, a community pharmacy owner, a pharmacist immuniser and an Accredited Mental Health First Aid Instructor. She is a Fellow of the UK Higher Education Academy and a Fellow of the PSA, and a Graduate Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Fei serves on a number of profession and academic-related committees, and is fully committed to the pharmacy profession and is passionate about the future of the profession through growth of professional services to attain the highest level of contemporary pharmacist practice. Through her teaching and research activities as an academic, Fei is committed to motivating and inspiring students to become excellent and competent future pharmacists, and encouraging them to have the courage and aspiration to be future leaders in the primary healthcare team. 

Fei has led and is involved in a number of research projects and trials aiming to provide evidence to support the great contribution of pharmacists, including in the area of pharmacist-led immunisation, mental health, primary care and minor ailments management and diabetes. Her teaching awards, the 2018 PSA WA Early Career Pharmacist Award and the 2019 PSA National Early Career Pharmacist of the Year Award are testimony to her commitment to patient care, learning and teaching, leadership in pharmacy, innovation and initiative in pharmacy service delivery, as well as peer and professional engagement.

Tom Simpson is the President of SHPA, having been elected in December 2022. Tom is also the Executive Director, Statewide Hospital Pharmacy Tasmania, and has held positions as Chair, Statewide Pharmacy Executive Committee, the Tasmanian Minister’s Health Council and the Pharmacy Board of Tasmania.

Tom is a member of the SHPA Leadership and Management Specialty Practice Leadership Committee and holds a conjoint position as Senior Clinical Lecturer with the University of Tasmania School of Pharmacy.

Tom was awarded 2018 Tasmanian Pharmacist of the Year and the 2019 SHPA Medal of Merit, recognising outstanding contribution to pharmacy practice locally and nationally.

Daniel has over 25 years of experience in marketing and communications, working with a wide range of clients including SMEs, NFPs, international brands, and governments. This includes hosting and producing the Guild’s PBCN Podcast. Daniel was a co-founder of SponServe, a SaaS sponsorship platform, and developed Marketing Builder, a unique, card sorting-based approach to help businesses build a marketing plan. Daniel has a Master of Marketing (with Distinction) and tutors at university across management and marketing units.

Peter Guthrey holds the position of Senior Pharmacist, Strategic Policy at the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. Peter supports policy development, advocacy activities, regulatory submissions and practice advice. In the past few years, Peter has led practice guidance and support to the profession in response to COVID19, including PSA's COVID-19 microsite and PSA ECP Facebook group. 

Peter has driven key PSA policy work, including Pharmacists in 2023, medicine safety agenda and Australian Pharmacist – and is currently focussed on two major works – the next Professional Practice Standards and the sequel to Pharmacists in 2023. He has over 14 years’ experience in pharmacy policy, regulation, advocacy, quality management and community pharmacy practice. Peter maintains practice as a community pharmacist, working in an after-hours role at Melbourne’s Ascot Vale Pharmacy, one of Melbourne’s 24 hour Supercare pharmacies

Erica Marsom currently works for the Society of Hospital Pharmacists of Australia (SHPA) team as the Lead Pharmacist for Workforce Programs. Within this role, Erica contributes to the ongoing development of the SHPA Resident Training Program and Registrar Training Program across Australia and the recently launched Australian & New Zealand College of Advanced Pharmacy (ANZCAP). Erica draws on her 11 years' experience in hospital clinical pharmacy and pharmacy education and is passionate about educating and empowering career development opportunities for early career pharmacists.

Scott Harris is a workplace relations specialist with 25 years of experience across multiple industry sectors. He is currently employed as the Director, Workplace Relations & Business with the Pharmacy Guild of Australia.

Scott has previously worked in both the public and private sectors as the workplace relations manager or specialist, and as a human resources manager for international companies. Scott's experience and knowledge directly assist businesses in improving their operations regarding corporate performance and employment management.

Scott holds Master's degrees in Industrial Relations, Business Administration and Legal Studies from Charles Sturt University.

A Registered Migration Agent, with a combined 20+ years of experience in both HR and Migration. Virginia has an intimate knowledge of the strategy required to assist businesses in attracting international talent, with a determination to find a compliant solution for each individual who wants to live or work in Australia.

Virginia maintains a high level of knowledge of immigration laws and policies to provide up-to-date and accurate advice for all her clients.

Kay is passionate about the health and well-being of health professionals.  After forging a career based in hospital pharmacy, Kay has over the years also been involved in roles providing services which support pharmacists and other health professionals.  These roles have included working for the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (Victorian Branch), the Victorian Drug Usage Advisory Committee (VDUAC), the Victorian Medicines Advisory Committee (VMAC) and the Victorian Therapeutics Advisory Group (VicTAG).  Currently Kay is employed as the Executive Officer of the Pharmacists’ Support Service (PSS).

The role with PSS lead to employment by the Australian Medical Association (AMA) in Victoria to establish and coordinate their Peer Support Service for doctors and medical students which is based on the PSS model.  At AMA Victoria Kay also coordinates the Peer Visitor Program matching elderly isolated doctors with volunteer visitors who are medical students or doctors.  In addition she shares the role of coordinating the mentoring program at AMA Victoria.

Kay has also previously worked as an accredited consultant pharmacist undertaking medication reviews.

In 2020 Kay was awarded the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia Symbion Pharmacist of the Year.

Bano Serhan is the current President of the National Australian Pharmacy Students' Association (NAPSA) for the 2023-2024 term. She is a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Newcastle, pursuing a Bachelor of Pharmacy (Honours).

She was elected to this leadership position in July 2023 and leads a newly elected executive team representing the interests of pharmacy students across Australia's 18 pharmacy schools.

I started studying Pharmacy because in my late teens I saw the deaths of too many friends from overdose, and wanted to help improve the social benefit our industry contributes. Passionate about harm minimisation, queer health and supporting the most vulnerable in our communities, I put my hand up to be NAPSA Treasurer in my second year of studies. Beyond managing the finances and backend governance of our association, being Treasurer has enabled me to meet countless stakeholders from across the country, and work with them on building the future of pharmacy.

Debbie started with Raven’s Recruitment in September 2000 and over this time has become our senior Recruiter and moral compass. Working within a national team leading the development and execution of the broader health sector strategy for Business Banking, Ben’s role focuses on the Pharmacy industry strategy, insights and appetite. The CommBank Health team specialise across the full spectrum of the health sector, from General Practice to Pharmacy, Aged Care and Seniors Living and support front-line banking and risk teams in deepening their understanding of these highly specialised businesses. Based in Adelaide, SA, Ben specialises in transaction analysis and structuring, credit risk management, data analytics/research and strategy.

Andrew Crawley is the General Manager of Pharmacy at Symbion Pty Ltd. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Masters of Commerce from the Queensland University of Technology, and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). He has been working in the pharmacy industry for over 10 years, initially as a Business Development Manager in the Northern Region, and then as the General Manager of Pharmacy. He has a wealth of experience in business strategy, operational finance, and relationship building.
